Dan Bricklin

Dan Bricklin

Born :1951 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania


Major Academic Events : He researched computer science and engineering at MIT and continued his study into Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration.

Contributions to Computer Science : Bricklin made and led many other software projects, but the biggest impact he made was creating the electronic spreadsheet. Today, he is known as the father of electronic spreadsheets.
Another large countribution was when Bricklin founded Software Arts and served as chairman of the board and executive vice president until 1985. Their biggest creation, VisiCalc, gave a electronic spreadsheet to their user which helped seal the deal and get the customers to purchase a computer.

Major Academic Events : He researched computer science and engineering at MIT and continued his study into Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration.

Contributions to Computer Science : Although Timothy J. Berners-Lee had many big contributions, the most important thing he ever did was invent http which is the the reason why every website today can exist. Other important, but not as important contributions are that he helped invent HTML coding, the first website, and the first web browser!

Major Academic Events : Before working as an assistant professor at Stanford University from 1972 to 1976, Vinton Cerf, who received his bachelor's degree in mathematics from Stanford University, worked in the Silicon Valley computer sector.

Contributions to Computer Science : He participated in the co-design of the Internet's underlying architecture. Cerf and his colleague Robert E. Kahn received the National Medal of Technology from President Bill Clinton for creating and expanding the Internet. Cerf has served as Google's vice president and leading Internet evangelist since 2005.
